Shrek: The Musical

"Jori Gonzales may have her best role ever as Princess Fiona. Her singing is glorious, and she has wonderful numbers—especially a memorable dance with a stage full of mice." -Sacramento News and Review

"Gonzales, one of the staples among the Opera House regulars, has never been in better voice, and her dancing with the “rat tappers” is one of the highlights of the show." -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

Carousel

"Gonzales, who has now portrayed many DMTC heroines, simply shines as Julie, in her feelings for Billy, her heartbreak at his death and her quiet, lonely dignity as she raises their daughter alone. She’s a real gem." -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

My Fair Lady (2017)

"On stage, actress Jori Gonzales brought Eliza Doolittle to life, using different dialects to convey her transformation between the British classes. This change came about in music as well, Gonzales choosing to keep her Cockney accent during the early songs, including “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” This also happens to be the song that has been stuck in my head since the curtain fell, making me crave “lots of chocolate for me to eat.” Later, Gonzales has her breakthrough during “The Rain in Spain,” showing more of her vocal talent, which Director Andrea St. Clair said reminded her of Julie Andrews, who also played the part." - Sarah Dowling, Daily Democrat

“Jori Gonzales, as Eliza Doolittle, is simply loverly. I loved watching not only her cockney and her “lady” but also the midway point, which took perhaps more acting.
Her best acting may be in the scene where she says nothing at all. As Higgins, his staff, and Col. Pickering are dancing and celebrating the triumph of the ball, totally ignoring Eliza, the look on her face was poignant and heartbreaking.” -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

"Jori Gonzales is a loverly Eliza; the actress easily transforms from a ragtag Cockney flower girl to pseudo duchess." -Sacramento News & Review

Mary Poppins
"Jori Gonzales is more than practically perfect as Mary Poppins. From the moment she floats into the Banks household we take her into our hearts and believe in her magic." -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

"Jori Gonzales is a delightful Mary Poppins, the enigmatic nanny who arrives just in the nick of time to help the Banks family. She has a warm relationship with the children, takes no prisoners in the discipline department, yet kicks up a heel or two with chimney sweep Bert (F. James Raasch)." -Sacramento News & Review

It's a Wonderful Life

"Jori Gonzales as Mary Bailey, George’s wife and biggest supporter, is excellent.  She has all the innocence of a young girl with a big crush evolving into a love for the man she plans to marry, and displays a big heart in her support of him in whatever he needs." -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

Brigadoon

"The character of Fiona is quite a departure from the fiery Aldonza that Gonzales played in “Man of La Mancha” and she could not have done it better. Her voice has the strength to handle the most operatic melodies, yet her personality is warm and engaging." - Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

Man of La Mancha

"In Aldonza, the serving wench and town whore, Quixote sees only the lovely “Dulcinea,” a fair lady whom he insists on treating with dignity, gentleness and respect, to her puzzlement, and becomes her protector. Gonzales has a rich voice in songs that express her puzzlement with this strange man “What does he want of me?” but can be exceptionally raw in her painful lament “Aldonza.” It’s a captivating performance."- Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

Into the Woods

"Gonzales displays her operatic training in a beautiful performance as Cinderella." Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

Sweeney Todd

"The romantic leads of Joanna played by Jori Gonzales and Anthony Hope played by F. James Raasch were well cast and attractive in appearance and vocal production. Ms. Gonzales possessed an engaging soprano that she annunciated well in her ballads and frantic numbers alike." -Jim Kassel

"As for Gonzales, she is a beautiful, innocent Johanna with a lovely voice, who has a chance to shine in “Greene Finch and Linnet Bird,” and sing a beautiful duet, “Kiss Me” with Anthony. The two are symbols of goodness in the evil world that surrounds them" -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise

My Fair Lady (2014)
"It had been Jori Gonzales’ dream to play Eliza and her dream comes to life as she dons the rags of the flower girl Eliza, later struggling to learn her vowels, and finally making a triumphant appearance at an Embassy ball. Ultimately, Eliza finds her voice and pride in herself as a woman. Gonzales has a beautiful voice and one loves to float along on her high notes." -Bev Sykes, Davis Enterprise
